WT - Year 2 - The Great Fire of London
Posted on March 12, 2018
It was an emotional week for year 2 as they witnessed their precious Tudor houses burn, just like during The Great Fire of London. The children’s houses were set close together to ensure it was as similar to that week in September all those years ago. As the fire started to destroy the houses, the children were able to get a sense of how those poor, innocent people felt back in 1666 when their loved possessions were ruined. The children learnt so many valuable lessons that day: how to keep safe, how quickly fire spreads and the effect of heat on different materials. The children were able to write a detailed eyewitness account using many adjectives to describe their real feelings.
Thank you for all the time and effort spent on building the Tudor houses.
