Forest Academy, in Shirley, has been judged as “Good with Outstanding Leadership” by Ofsted inspectors who visited at the end of April 2015. The Academy was recognised as having made rapid improvements since opening in September 2013, largely due to Ofsted’s observation that “Leaders pursue excellence with energy and determination”.
The school’s predecessor, Spring Park Primary, when last inspected was judged to be ‘satisfactory’ overall. Subsequently Spring Park became Forest Academy and joined the Synaptic Trust. Mrs Campbell (Head of School) said: ‘I am ecstatic with the outcome and the recognition of the hard work all staff and pupils put into turning the school around. The partnership with the Synaptic Trust and Stuart Roberts has facilitated the rapid improvements seen by Ofsted and the outstanding grade for leadership demonstrates that we have the capacity to move swiftly to outstanding.’
The report goes on to say that subjects the pupils learn are exciting and that lessons are interesting, also that the pupils at Forest Academy are confident, friendly and polite. Standards are high throughout the school and the Early Years provision, with its attractive outdoor play area, provides inviting activities that stimulate the children’s imaginations and leads to good progress.
Stuart Roberts (Executive Head Teacher) said: ‘We are thrilled that Ofsted have recognised the dramatic improvements in the school over the last two years and we are looking forward to establishing Forest Academy as the first choice for parents in Shirley"
Visits to school by prospective parents are strongly encouraged. Please contact the school Office on 020 87772808 to arrange.
