Quality Marks

West Thornton Academy has been awarded the prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark and awarded as a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion.
The Inclusion Quality Mark is a standard for assessing schools against a nationally recognised framework on inclusion.

Included in the report:

West Thornton Primary Academy (WTPA) continues to be an inspiring, innovative, welcoming, and truly inclusive school where pupils’ learning and achievement are at the heart of everything it does. A pupil couldn’t have summed up the school’s approach better when she said, “They tell us it’s OK to struggle. They don’t just tell you what to do. This makes you love learning.” The school’s mission statement, which states it is “committed to building futures in a welcoming and supportive learning environment in which all pupils feel valued and challenged to be resilient thinkers, active learners with transferable skills and have an appetite for world learning,” is shared by the whole school community. As a result, there is a real sense of excitement, determination, commitment and a love for learning throughout the school, which is a joy and a privilege to experience.
